What is “Mono Zukuri” ?

“Mono Zukuri” is a key phrase used in Japan to describe the action of bringing into existence by shaping, modifying, and put together materials in the workplace. The phrase contains two words, the first is “Mono”, objects and visible entity, and the second is “Zukuri”, derived from verb “tsukuru” which implies shaping materials or making objects. So “Mono Zukuri” denotes manufacturing and producing something useful with practical skills and techniques to solve problems.

In childhood, we were probably enjoying building a castle of sand, constructing a house of LEGO, and baking cake of toy. Having an interest in “Mono Zukuri” is the common ability given to every person.

Although most people cannot spend a day without help of a lot of products with which manufacturers provide, most young people except for who are studying and major in manufacturing do not know exactly how the skilled people involved with “Mono Zukuri” including planning, designing, managing resources, using tools and operating machines for handling work in the shop floor.

It is very essential to let present youth to whom will be handed over the future, particularly in Junior and senior high school, have more positive attitude to contribution to society and build their career with “Mono Zukuri”.
